Hi, my name is Hans-Jürgen. Welcome to my website. I tell you more about me and my shrimp.

A heater is not necessary, room temperature is perfectly adequate. If you want to generate shrimp you should maintain a water temperature of at least 22 to 23 degrees centigrade.

You should always have plants in your shrimp bucket. I collect leaves of sweet chestnut for this purpose. On the menu for my shrimp you will find dried stinging nettle. Homemade food out of spirillina, algae, peas, gammarus (?). Dried fly larva (challenges the blank line of the shrimp), regular fish food, wood dust, leaves and vegetables.

I am willing to sell part of my brood of shrimp.

My Aquarium

I have remodeled my basement into a fish and shrimp room.

In the basement I have seventy aquarium. The breeding section occupies two rooms. These rooms have been plastered and are heated in the winter.

A Brief Synopsis of the Breeding Section of the Shrimp Basement

I take care of my shrimp in small tanks, that hold between 25 and 100 liters of water. As a bottom covering I use aquarium sand and pebbles. Actually, it doesn’t really matter for the shrimp whether you use coarse or fine sand.

All the tanks have small roots, water sprite and various kinds of moss.

As a filtering system in my business aquarium I only use ”Hamburger Mattenfilter (HMF)”. In the shrimp aquarium are small air tubes that are run by a single pump.

As lighting I use light fixtures and in part energy sparing light bulbs.

About Us

It started in december 2003.

Again and again we bought more small roommates and at some point it became too crowded to keep them in the sixty liter aquarium. We followed up by buying a 360 liter aquarium and then a 180 liter aquarium. After that, we bought even more aquarium.

At this time we are planning to put in our living room a 3 meter long natural aquarium.

This information comes from our own observations, accordingly it is possible that others have different opinions.
